Qld: Former tourism minister released from jail

BRISBANE, Aug 30 AAP - Former Queensland Beattie government minister Merri Rose has
been released from jail after serving three months for attempted blackmail.

The former tourism minister was sentenced on May 31 to 18 months in prison, suspended
after three months, after pleading guilty to attempting to blackmail Premier Peter Beattie.

She was released from the Numinbah prison farm in the Gold Coast hinterland early this
morning, the department of corrective services said.
