THE Admiral Graf Spee was a pocket battleship -- heavily armed, lightly
armoured and built to circumvent the size restrictions placed on the German navy after World War I. It preyed mercilessly on the British merchant marine. This new documentary captures the character of its captain neatly, and expertly recreates its eventual cornering by the Royal Navy.
ADDICTIVE STORY Laura Hall: My Battle With Booze, 9pm, BBC3
DOCUMENTARY following a woman who, after more than 40 arrests, received the first-ever National Drinking Banning Order barring her from buying or drinking alcohol in Britain. Laura Hall (pictured) regularly consumes 150 units of alcohol a week and the film chronicles her determination to change as she enters rehab.
MUSICAL DRAMA Glee, 9pm, E4
RELIGION is dangerous ground in American TV, so it's impressive that this songand-dance series has even decided to dip a toe into it. After Finn (Cory Monteith, pictured) finds a holy image in his cheese sandwich (his 'grilled cheesus'), the episode takes a turn when atheist Sue insists that the ensuing celebration of religion has no place in a public school. Is she right or wrong? Glee leans more towards discussion than statement, and you can understand why.
RIGHTS AND WRONGS Justice -- A Citizen's Guide To The 21st Century, 9pm, BBC4
DOES justice simply mean doing what makes the majority of people happy? Or is that mob rule? Professor Michael Sandel delves into notions of social balance in this snappy and insightful programme, which also considers the classic dilemma of whether torture can be considered morally 'right' in the face of averting mass catastrophe.
