Fed: Ansett workers receive first entitlement payments

Hundreds more Ansett workers have moved to take voluntary redundancy as the first wave
of former workers received their multi-million dollar entitlement payouts today.

Ansett administrator MARK MENTHA says 4,000 sacked workers received more than $79 million
in entitlements through direct bank transfers yesterday.

Another 800 expect to have money cleared into their accounts some time today.

Administrators Andersen says 384 workers, stood down when the airline collapsed last
September, have volunteered for redundancy and should get their entitlements before Christmas.
