The supply of blood in the Capital Region has fallen alarmingly low.
Instead of the three-day supply usually on hand a level high enough to meet most needs there is but a one-day supply for the area.
Since school has let out the supply has diminished. Mostly that's because high school and college students, who account for approximately 25 percent of donated blood, are home on vacation and away from a convenient donor location.
